Abstract

923,816. Multiple piping. PYE Ltd. Oct. 3, 1960 [Oct. 12, 1959], No. 34522/59. Class 99(2). A flexible tube or hose assembly consists of a central tube 1 surrounded by a number of smaller tubes 4. The tubes 1, 4 are made from spirally wound metal strip which may be surrounded by heat-resistant material 3, 5 such as silica fibre. The tubes 4 are wound helically around the tube 1. The assembly is enclosed by heat resistant material 6 and an outer cover of wire braiding 7 or by a metal sheath which may be covered with wire braiding. The spaces 8 may be packed with insulating material. The assembly may be used to supply gas from a control point to a television camera located in an atomic reactor, the tube 1 being used to carry cooling gas to the camera and the tubes 4 for returning the gas from the camera and/or for feeding gas under pressure to operate controls on the camera. An electric cable 2 is housed within the tube 1 or in one of the tubes 4 to connect the camera to a control unit. One or more of the tubes 4 may consist of a number of small tubes.
