Abstract

Between the flanges of two circular contact pieces (1, 2) a number of flexible connectors (3) are arranged. These are made up of bundles of fine wires compressed to form Litz conductors to avoid skin effects. The connectors are fitted into slots (4, 5) in the contact flanges. The space between the flanges is enclosed by an insulating bellows (6), typically made of PTFE, which forms the water duct around the connectors. Water enters through one contact piece and flows through radial channels (13) onto the connectors (3). Outlet is through a corresponding duct system (11) at the opposite end.
