922,299. Chains. BUHLER GEB. Aug. 24, 1961 [Aug. 30, 1960], No. 30621/61. Class 24. In the chain of a drag conveyer, the pivot pins 6 are formed with grooves 9 for a retaining element 7 in the form of a soft steel split washer which is slid over the end 10 of the pin, stopped by the larger diameter central portion 12 thereof, and deformed by pliers or the like to fit closely into the groove, thus retaining the chain links on the central part of the pin. The notches 15 on the washer assist its deformation and also its destruction, e.g. by a chisel, should the pin need to be disconnected.
