Abstract

921,473. Discharging static electricity. MEECH ELECTRIC DRIVES (LONDON) Ltd. March 9, 1961 [Nov. 7, 1960], No. 8710/61. Class 35. A device for eliminating unwanted electrostatic charges comprises a conductor maintained at a high potential and capacitively coupled to a plurality of needles, each extending into an aperture of a casing surrounding the conductor and needles. As shown, a conductor 18 has an insulating sleeve 20 on which are alternately threaded conductive sleeves 24 and insulating sleeves 26. A further insulating sleeve 28 covers sleeves 24, 26. A conductive needle 36 is mounted in the sleeve 28 in contact with each conductive sleeve 24 so that each sleeve 24 provides a capacitive coupling to the central conductor 18 which is connected to a high voltage source. The central assembly is supported in insulating spacers 40 at each end of an earthed brass tube A, having apertures 14 in line with each needle electrode 36. Further apertures 16 are provided for cleaning.
