Abstract

928,913. Pipe connections. A. STULZ. June 17, 1959 [May 26, 1959; June 13, 1959], Divided out of 928,911. Class 99(1). In a connection between pipes 2<SP>1</SP>, 5<SP>1</SP> the latter have interfitting corrugations 3<SP>1</SP>, 7<SP>1</SP> and each pipe has a substantially constant wall thickness in the region of the corrugation thereof. Only one of the pipes, preferably the outer pipe, is of a hardened thermoplastic material, and the other pipe is flexible and is of a material different from that of the said first pipe. The corrugations may be moulded in the pipes and be helical in form in which case the pipes are screwed together, the flexible pipe being previously coated with an adhesive, or the pipes may be welded together; alternatively, the corrugation in the inner pipe is formed by a heated roller. The flexible pipe may be reinforced by an internal helix or wire mesh fabric embedded in the wall thereof.
