Abstract
927,830. Kinematographic sound projectors; television; threading. FERNSEH G.m.b.H. Aug. 31, 1961 [Sept. 10, 1960], No. 31368/61. Class 40 (2). [Also in Group XX] A projector with fast starting and backspacing facilities, particularly for interposing film passages in live television performances and rehearsals has solenoid operated means engaging or releasing the film from a constantly rotating sound-drum 9. The film F, on emergence from the picture gate (Fig. 2 (not shown)) is fed by sprockets 13, 14 to and from the sound head, comprising tension rollers 5, 6, drum 9 and guides 10, 11, 12. Wedge members 3, 4, activated by a solenoid 1, resiliently displace the tension rollers 5, 6 to disengage the film from driving engagement with the drum 9. To facilitate threading the sound head, the solenoid 1 may be fed with a 50 c/s. alternating current, whereupon the film proceeds in quasi-ratchet fashion through the guides 10, 11, 12. Where the same portion of film is to be repeated successively, reversing means provided in the projector may rewind the film without stopping the drum 9.
