912,917. Fluid-pressure servomotor-control systems. NATIONAL VALVE & ENGINEERING CO. PROPRIETARY Ltd. March 23, 1959 [March 27, 1958], No. 10052/59. Class 135. A slow-closing valve comprises a main closure member 14 coacting with a resilient seat 21 and carrying a resilient seat 22 for a pilot valve member 24 which can be raised, against the force of a spring 25, by a finger grip 26 to release fluid from a chamber 31 to enable inlet pressure acting on an enlargement 13 to open the main valve member. The rate at which the valve closes after release of the pilot valve is determined by the rate at which fluid from the inlet can enter the chamber 31 through an adjustable needle valve 30. Control of the rate of opening can be effected by varying the diameter of a downward extension 33 of the pilot valve spindle that passes through the valve seat 22. The main valve member has a ported skirt 15 projecting into the outlet.
