Abstract
918,158. Drying apparatus. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. March 8, 1961 [March 16, 1960], No. 8522/61. Class 34 (2). Apparatus for evaporating volatile constituents from plastic, elastic and viscous materials consists of a trough-like housing 1 with evaporation apertures 7 that has on its heated wall 10 two pairs of heatable conveyer worms 2, 2a and 3, 3a arranged in pairs so that interengaging members of each pair rotate in the same direction and each adjacent pair rotates in opposite direction, the innermost worms of the pairs 2a, 3a contacting each other longitudinally at their peripheries. The axes of the worms lie in two planes diverging upwardly. Polymerized material is supplied through the union 5, is taken up by the pairs of worms in the gap 6, where a bead of material 8 is formed. The volatile constituents escape upwardly through the aperture 7 and the concentrate is forced out through an aperture 9.
