Abstract
629,074. Delivering measured quantities. ROGERS, G. Oct. 28, 1947, No. 28726. [Class 106(v)] A variable capacity delivery device, of the kind comprising a rotatable compartmented cylindrical drum, 1, Fig. 1, or G, Fig. 4, a rotatable blocking plate member, 3, Fig. 1, or C, E1, E2, Fig. 3, to vary the capacity of the compartments F1, F2 therein, and apertured end plates for the said drum, includes indicator means for indicating the relative positions of the blocking plate member and the drum, the said means consisting of a pair of discs 20, 21, one of which, 21, is coupled to the drum and the other of which, 20, is coupled to the blocking plate member, the two discs being arranged adjacent to one another in such a manner that an indicator on the one indicates the degree of relative rotation on a suitable scale on the other. In operation the blocking member and the drum 1 are adjusted relative to one another and are locked by a nut 19 in their adjusted position. Material falls from a hopper 7 through the aperture 14 in the fixed end plate 13 to a compartment of the drum 1 closed at its other end by the base of a cylindrical casing 4. The drum 1, together with the blocking means, is then rotated, by a shaft 11, and material falls from the filled compartment through the aperture 5 to a chute 6.
