Abstract

916,812. Aerials. WACHE, A. June 19, 1959 [June 20, 1958; March 5, 1959], No. 21144/59. Class 40 (7). The lead-in, coupling a car aerial to a receiver inside the vehicle, is arranged so that it passes into the car body between a door and its frame. Fig. 1 shows a section through one embodiment attached to the normal guttering 4 on a car roof, and extending between the body and the door 6. Fig. 2 is an exploded view showing the parts of the aerial support and leadin. The aerial 1, itself, is of simple whip-type having an eye formed at its end so that it can be mounted by screw 9 and insulating members 11 and 12 on the yoke support 5. This support is clamped to the guttering 4 by means of abutment member 7 and screw 8. The lead-in arrangement comprises an insulated cable running from a terminal tag mounted on bolt 9 through a longitudinal groove in guide tongue 2 to a contact in a socket 3 which is formed on the end of the guide tongue. The tongue, which may be metallic, is secured to the yoke 5 by the bolt 9 as indicated. In other embodiments, the clamping arrangement securing the support to the guttering is modified (Fig. 3, not shown), and the lead-in arrangement consists of a pair of spaced rigid conductors 2 and 2<SP>1</SP> (Fig. 5), suitably shaped and embedded in a moulding of flexible resinous insulating material. Inside the vehicle the conductors are attached to a socket connection 3 and outside one is attached to the aerial and one to " earth." A further lead-in arrangement using spaced strip conductors carried in an insulating moulding and having its connections inside the vehicle effected by a single bolt pressing terminal tags against the respective conductors is described with reference to Fig. 6 (not shown).
