Abstract
1,132,000. Aerials. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 22 Aug., 1967 [25 Aug., 1966], No. 38551/67. Heading H4A. [Also in Division H2] A car radio assembly comprises a metal tube 3, one end of which is externally screwthreaded and receives a fastening nut 5, and the other end of which is secured in an electrically insulating base 7 having a bore, coaxial with the tube, in which an aerial section 15 is supported and insulated. As described, the base 7 is made of resilient material, such as rubber or polyvinylchloride, and the upper end of the tube 3, including a split ring 11 held in a circular groove on the outside thereof, is embedded in the said base. A flange 13 at the lower end of the base 7 rests on the outside of the body 1 of a car and is clamped by the nut 5. The aerial section 15 is the lowest section of a telescopic aerial 2, and is held in the base 7 by means of a groove 23 and a flare at its lower end. The section 15 is also provided with a narrowed portion, split axially for resiliency, for receiving the central pin 17 of a coaxial plug connector. The outer contact sleeve 21 of the said plug engages the inner bore of the tube 3.
