Abstract
901,338. Fuel injectors. PETTERS Ltd. June 27, 1960 [Sept. 15, 1959], No. 31436/59. Class 7(3) A fuel injection nozzle tip a is gripped by a copper sleeve c in thermal communication with means h exposed to a cooling air stream, the sleeve c being split and surrounded by a sleeve d of material of lower coefficient of expansion, e.g. steel, so that it is always in tight engagement with the tip a. The sleeve c is engaged by a copper ferrule g to which the ends of heat conducting strips h are connected, the outer ends of the strips being coiled to present a large surface area to the cooling air stream flow past the injector body i. The sleeve c may be continued to protect the inner end of the tip a and a heat insulating sleeve n may surround the steel sleeve d.
