Abstract

908,560. Rollers. BENTELER-WERKE A.G. July 5, 1961 [July 11, 1960], No. 24292/61. Class 42 (2). A shaking roller 1 for producing vibrations in webs of fabric passed through liquids for treatment, comprises on the surface thereof a plurality of ribs some of which decrease in height from one end towards the other and others decrease in height from said other end to said one end. Preferably, the ribs are equally spaced about the periphery of the roller and alternate ribs taper in opposite directions. The height and taper of the ribs may be selected so that the fabric 4 forms a tangent with the roller 1 over its entire width mid-way between two ribs. In a modification (not shown), the angle of taper of successive ribs increases or decreases continuously from one end of the roller to the other.
