Abstract

906,968. Idler roller assemblies for endless belt conveyers. FISCHER, A. June 3, 1960 [June 6, 1959], No. 19792/60. Class 78 (1). Each roller 1 of an idler roller assembly is provided with an annular web 1 which is rotatably supported on a flexible axle 3 and which is located on the axle by means of cylindrical spacer members 5 secured to the axle, the cylindrical surfaces 4a of the spacer members forming bearing surfaces on which slide bearing surfaces 4 formed on the roller. The return run of the belt may be supported on an idler roller assembly comprising a rotatable flexible axle 3a, Fig. 2, which is stretched between brackets 6 and which supports a single roller 1 located between spacer members 5, sleeves 5a being secured to the axle to form additional supporting rollers for the belt. The rollers 1 may be formed of synthetic plastic material, the axles may be formed of synthetic plastic material or rubber or may be in the form of wire cables coated with synthetic plastic material. The spacer members 5 may be formed of sheetmetal or of hard ceramics and are secured to the axles by means of clamps 8 or by being provided with an elastic lining 7 which produces a clamping effect.
