873,320. Idler rollers for belt conveyers. W.G.I. Ltd., WEST, F. J., and WEST, E. Oct. 1, 1959 [Oct. 14, 1958], No. 32708/58. Class 78 (1). A troughing idler roller assembly for a conveyer belt comprises rubber rollers h moulded on to housings f, which are provided with annular grooves containing oil-impregnated felt or like strip g and in which are mounted oilretaining bearing-sleeves e, the sleeves e bearing on sleeves d which are spot-welded to a rigid troughed spindle a, supported between fixed pedestals b, c, flexible rubber spacing shrouds i being provided between the housings f. End cover-plates m are provided over dust-sealing devices between the outermost rollers and collars k, the collars being secured to the spindle and bearing against flanges of the end bearing-sleeves e. The spindle a is provided at its ends with flats n which engage in slots in the pedestals b, c, the slots being at an angle to the vertical and to the direction of belt travel to provide improved tracking of the belt. The Provisional Specification states that the spindle may comprise a rod, tube or wire rope.
