Abstract
Solid, semi-solid and fluid pharmaceutical compositions for topical and rectal administration comprise at least one compound of general formula R-COSEr wherein R stands for an ethylthio radical or for a phenyl radical which may be optionally substituted by an ethylthio-carbonyl radical in admixture with one or more pharmaceutically acceptable, non-toxic, thickening agents, e.g. beeswax (preferred), solid polyoxyethylene glycol (1540, 4000 or 6000), microcrystalline wax, hydrogenated castor oil, spermacetic or a long chain aliphatic alcohol as the sole excipient or base.
