[Also in Group XXIX] An hydraulic system is provided for the control of the striping device at each station of a multi-feed circular knitting machine in which similar movements of the striping device are effected in the same sequence at each station, but with a phase difference between the stations. Transmitters, equal in number to the number of movements at a station, each comprise a piston 8 actuated from cams 4 on a pattern chain 3 by levers 5. The pattern chains 3 co-operate with sprocket wheels on a common shaft 1. Each transmitter supplies liquid to a port 12 of a distributing valve, each port 12 leading to an annular groove registering with a passage through a rotatable disc 14 fast with shaft 1. As the disc rotates the passages register with sets of ports 13 in the valve casing, each set of ports leading to the receivers 11a, 11b . . . at a knitting station. Thus, for any particular position of the valve disc various receivers at the various knitting stations are in communication with the transmitters, and those receivers will be actuated which communicate with the transmitters which are actuated by a cam on the associated pattern chain.
