Abstract

899,646. Vacuum-moulding thermoplastic sheet material. ALEXANDER & CO. Ltd., S. M. Sept. 9, 1960 [June 22, 1959], No. 21295/59. Class 87 (2). [Also in Group VIII] A sheet 11 of thermoplastic material, which is air-permeable, is clamped to a mould box 9 by a frame 10, heated by an electric heater 14, a membrane 18 is clamped over the sheet, and suction applied to mould the sheet. In modifications, the membrane may be placed over the sheet before heating or the membrane and the sheet may be positioned between upper and lower heaters prior to positioning over the mould. The membrane may remain in contact with the sheet as part of the finished moulding. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 822,609.
