Abstract
894,114. Hose fittings. AEROQUIP A.G. Oct. 12, 1959 [Dec. 29, 1958], No. 34540/59. Class 99(1). A re-usable end fitting of the lip seal type for use with a flexible hose having an inner tube 14 and an outer wire reinforcement 12, comprises inner and outer nipples 32, 34 and a socket 16, the outer nipple being adapted to be disposed coaxially around and in sealing relation with the inner nipple so as to form with the latter an annular recess 58 adapted to receive an end portion of the tube 14, and the socket being adapted to be disposed coaxially around the nipple 32 so as to form with the latter an annular recess adapted to receive and deform an end portion of the wire reinforcement of the hose, there being axial abutment means on the socket and the outer nipple which permits relative rotation between them without relative axial movement occurring. As shown, the socket 16 is formed of three similar internally ribbed segments 18 the ends 67 of each of which engage inside a ring 20, the segemnts being moved radially inwards to the position shown and retained in that position by a ring 22. The nipples 32, 34 are interconnected by screwthreads and have metal-to-metal fluid sealing seats 36, 56. Specifications 733,337 and 811,739 are referred to.
