[Also in Group XXVI] An electric motor M driving a centrifugal pump P is exposed to the pumped liquid through an aperture 401 in the pump casing, a valve V being held in the open position by the end plate 113 of the motor casing. After removal of screws 300, the motor easing and stator can be removed as a unit for servicing. The valve V then closes under the action of its spring 404, thereby preventing loss of liquid from the pump casing. The spring 404 may be replaced by a block of rubber or the like.
