A permanent magnet rotor for an electric motor comprises a permanent magnet 1 mounted on an injection moulded plastics part 2 on which is an injection moulded plastics pinion 3, the part 2 serving as a bearing for the rotor. The magnet 1 may be of barium ferrite. The part 2 may also include projections 5 (best depicted in Fig. 1, not shown) serving to prevent wrong-way rotor rotation.
