Abstract

884,895. Guiding webs or bands in papermaking machines &c. NATIONAL RESEARCH COUNCIL. Dec. 17, 1959, No. 42944/59. Class 96. To prevent or reduce wander of a web of paper or of a band in a paper-making machine &c., air is blown through a pipe 20 into the space where the web &c. leaves a roll 10, so that the web tends to be bowed outwardly. Alternatively, the web &c. may be directed into bowed form by a rigid, convex guide, which may be located on the inside or on the outside of the web &c. as it leaves the roll 10 or by a rigid concave guide which may be located on the inside or on the outside of the web &c. as it approaches the roll 10.
