Abstract

871,309. Joints for timber. GIBJOINTS Ltd. June 17, 1959 [June 30, 1958; Sept. 5, 1958], Nos. 20912/58 and 28636/58. Classes 20(1) and 20(2) - A sheet metal junction element for a timber framework of, for example, a building comprises, at least three channel members secured together with the longitudinal axes of two members intersecting each other, these two members being closed by strips to form tubes and all the members being provided with bolt holes. In one construction, Fig. 3, five tubes 1, 2, 3, 12, 13 are provided having bolt holes 8, 9. In other constructions, one tube 1, 3 or 12, or two tubes 12, 13 are omitted. In a modification of this latter construction; the tubes 2, 3 are at an obtuse angle to one another. Fig. 5 shows a ridge connector comprising two tubes 25, 26 and four channel members 27-30. In a modification, the channel! members 27, 28 are omitted. Fig. 6 shows another construction, comprising two tubes 31, 32 and two channels 33, 34. Fig. 7 (not shown) shows a building framework employing some of the junction elements.
