Abstract

879,968. Two-part couplings. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. Jan. 19, 1959 [Jan. 20, 1958], No. 1898/59. Class 38 (1). A socket contact comprises a double-leaf spring contact A housed in cavity B in a socket carrier 1, parts 2a of the leaves C, D and portions 1a of the cavity walls, diverging towards the opening of the cavity the leaves being spaced from its walls sufficiently to allow entry of contact pin 6 whilst ensuring effective contact with it. Flanges F fit loosely in recesses G, prolongations 2b on the flanges fitting into pockets 1c, the fit enabling the flanges to move freely, both vertically and horizontally. Portions 2f of the leaves are divergent in the opposite direction to parts 2a, the corresponding wall portions being parallel. The tail portion E is threaded through a slot in the carrier, its end part 2c being twisted to prevent withdrawal. The tail portion is further retained in the slot by corrugations engaging the slot walls and notches engaging the slot edges after twisting (Fig. 2, not shown). For fixing, carrier 1 has a resilient frame 3 fixed on it by lugs 3a fitting over projections 1e on the carrier. To mount the carrier on base plate 4 the lugs are bent back as indicated, freeing the frame and securing the socket. Loop 5, with its ends hooked in the holes of lugs 3a, serves to clamp a plug-in relay in the socket.
