Abstract

878,456. Piston extrusion apparatus. R. C. CAN CO. April 7, 1960, No. 12365/60. Class 102 (2). An end closure 15, for a cylindrical dispensing cartridge 10, which acts as a piston to discharge the contents of the cartridge, comprises a convex body portion 16 and a cylindrical, flexible, resilient peripheral portion 17 which is separable, under pressure, from a flange portion 20 outside the cartridge, is a sliding fit within the cartridge, and acts as a seal when the body of the piston is flattened and the piston and peripheral portion are slid into the cartridge by a plunger 32, Fig. 3 (not shown), of a hand-operated gun. Upon withdrawal of the plunger from the piston the body 16 flexes back to its convex shape and tends to withdraw the contents not dispensed back into the cartridge.
