Abstract

878,040. Air conditioning. H. R. ELECTRIC MOTORS (NEWHAVEN) Ltd. Aug. 27, 1958 [Aug. 28, 1957], No. 27156/57. Class 137 A device for disinfecting, deodorizing or otherwise conditioning air comprises a casing formed of a back plate 1, end plates 2 and 3 and a detachable cover 5, the casing being divided into two compartments by a plate 11, the upper compartment forming a housing for the electric motor 9 of an impellor 10 situated below the partition. The motor has frame parts clamped together and to the partition plate by bolts passing therethrough. The lower compartment contains means, such as a spring clip 26 for supporting a vessel containing a volatile air conditioning fluid, the vessel having its mouth situated below the impellor and preferably offset rearwardly from the axis of the impeller. In operation the impellor draws air upwardly through the lower compartment through an expanded metal grille 6 in the lower part of cover 5, the air passing in unrestricted flow over the mouth of the vessel where it is mixed with vapour from the vessel, the air being discharged laterally through a grille 7 at the level of the impellor and the mixing space.
