877,481. Semi-conductor device holders. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 4, 1957 [Nov. 13, 1956], No. 34682/56. Class 37. [Also in Group XXV] A thermally conducting holder for a heatgenerating electric component such as a transistor or rectifier, comprises a resilient sheet metal socket portion to receive the component, having two outwardly extending wing members secured to a chassis plate by separate securing members. Fig. 5 shows the holder with slotted socket portion 12 for containing transistor 1, and bolts 14 through the apertures of wing members 13 secure the holder to chassis 4. The transistor may alternatively be inserted from the underside of the holder from above or below the chassis plate which is advantageous for printed circuitry. Fig. 9 shows a further modification in which the transistor 1 rests on an insulating bushing 18. The holder may be secured to a separate plate acting as a heat sink, which is itself secured to the chassis. Specifications 877,482 and 877,483 are referred to.
