Abstract

876,290. Filling containers with liquids. MATHER & PLATT Ltd. May 28, 1958 [June 6, 1957], No. 17990/57. Class 125(2). In apparatus for filling jam, paint or the like into tins, dripping from the filling nozzle is prevented by replacing a single large filling tube by a plurality of smaller, separate, parallel tubes 10 whose length and diameter are so related to the surface tension or viscosity of the liquid that dripping is prevented. As shown, tins 3 are carried in holders 2 in a circular path beneath the nozzles carried by a plate 5 rotating against a fixed valve plate 4 provided with an arcuate chamber 7 communicating with the nozzles and with a pipe 8 connected to a metering pump.
