Abstract
1482149 Mixing liquids; selectable spray producers ACME GENERAL CORP 18 Oct 1974 [19 Oct 1973 30 Sept 1974] 45330/74 Headings B1C and B2F [Also in Divisions B8 and Fl] Hose end spray apparatus for mixing a liquid e.g. fertiliser or insecticide, with pressurized water and spraying the diluted liquid comprises a container 11 for liquid, a cap 21 adapted to be fastened on the container, the cap having means 12 for connection to a water supply hose, a nozzle 13 for spraying the liquid/water mixture and between the nozzle and connection 12 an angularly adjustable drum-like body 31 which has a plurality of passages 33, 34 therethrough for selectively providing communication between the water supply and the nozzle, each passage having therein a removable tubular insert 37, 38 of predetermined bore size to control the flow rate, and each passage communicating with respective aspiration openings 35, 36 whereby liquid from the container 11 can be drawn up a dip tube 20 and into the flow of water through the related insert. Proportions of 60:1 and 24:1 are referred to as typical water: liquid proportions for the two inserts 37, 38. The nozzle 13 is rotatably mounted and includes four chambers with outlets (53)....56 (see Figs. 2 and 5 not shown) having different internal wall configurations so as to provide different spray patterns, the chambers being selectively placed in line with the outlet of the selected insert 37, 38. A push button control 15 provides for direct supply of water into the container 11 via passage 64 and plunger type valve member 65 in order to allow initial dilution of concentrate in the container 11. The spray apparatus may be secured to the container 11 by a bayonet connection.
