874,853. Nuclear power plant. ATOMENERGI A.B. June 8, 1959 [June 7, 1958], No. 19622/59. Class 39(4). In a nuclear reactor power station the reactor 2 produces steam for the turboalternator 14, 16. The reactor coolant, heavy water, passes through heat exchanger 8 and heats the pressurised water system 10 from which steam is generated at reducing valves 12, 13. The pressurised water accumulator 24 is connected between the high and low pressure sides of 10 and supplies energy during peak demands. The accumulator consists of a drum mounted in a rock chamber. The space between the drum and the chamber walls is filled with water which transmits the internal drum pressure directly to the rock, thus leaving the drum unstressed.
