Abstract
861,257. Electric furnaces. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. March 16, 1959 [April 1, 1958]. No. 10432/58. Class 39 (3). A radiation, screen for an electric furnace consists of a number of overlapping sheets. 21 of e.g. molybdenum, tungsten, stainless steel or nickel iron supported from a framework 10 by pins extending through holes 15 in the overlapping parts. Spacer washers e.g. of alumina are provided on the pins. The inner free ends of the pins are provided with grooves or holes for receiving wires for retaining the inner sheets. The bottom 8 and the lid 9 of the screen are formed from overlapping sector shaped sheets 19. The heating element provided within the screen is described in Specification 861,258.
