868,212. Screw-drivers; spanners. CHRISTMAS, J. T. April 14, 1959 [Feb. 4, 1958; April 15, 1958], Nos. 3610/58 and 10002/58. Class 61. A screw or nut retaining device for a screw-driver or box spanner comprises one or more flexible fingers 7, Fig. 1, attached to a split tubular member 6 which is slidable over the tool shank to release the screw or nut. The device may be extended by a strip 12 coupled to an outwardly bent strip 10 in the region of the handle of the tool and engageable by the operators thumb. A modified device for a flexible screw-driver 14, Fig. 5, comprises a tubular member 6 which is coupled to the thumb-operated strip 10 by means of a flexible cable 16. Jointed tubular members 18, 19 set to the required angular portion of the screw-driver provide guideways for the cable 16.
