A document container comprises one or more compartments defined by a front and a back wall or partition each having a non-linear profile in horizontal section over at least a major portion of the height thereof, the fixed or removable walls or partitions occupying positions at fixed separations from each other in use, and a bottom wall at substantially right angles to the front and back walls, the walls containing documents to a curved configuration to confer rigidity thereto against buckling or folding under their own weight. As shown in Fig. 8, a number of similar compartments 13 are inserted in a container 6 with V-shaped front and back walls 11, 12 to take the V-shaped front and back walls 1, 2 of the compartments 13. Each compartment may be used as a separate container. Curved walls 1, 2 may be used instead of V-shape. As shown in Fig. 7, a cabinet 6 has side walls 3 formed with grooves 9 to take curved partitions 10 which may be fixed or removable. As shown in Fig. 9, to facilitate entry of the documents, the mouth of the container is substantially straight and the sides 1, 2 of increasing curvature down to the base 4. A similar arrangement of curvature is used in Fig. 13 where the partitions are formed by spaced parallel slats, rods or wires extending between top bars 15 and the base 4 where they lie on a curve 16. To prevent the side edges of drawings projecting between adjacent rods 14 into the next compartment sheets 17 are used for the sides of the partitions. The base of a container may be sloped, with the bottoms of the containers still at right angles to the walls 1, 2, so that documents tend to lie against one wall. Lids may be provided, to be fitted over the containers or hinged thereto.
