Abstract
<PICT:0857470/III/1> Air-washing apparatus comprises a substantially vertical wall 3 having an aperture 4 adapted to fit against or be connected by a short length of ducting 4a to the exhaust fan discharge opening (not shown) of a paint spray booth, the wall 3 forming part of a housing 1 which is open at its underside 5 above a water tank 6, a pump 7 being provided to suck water from the tank 6 and spray it through nozzles 11 to form a curtain across the aperture 4, the water returning through the housing 1 to the tank 6, and through additional nozzles 15 over the curved roof 16 of the housing 1 and over those areas of the walls 14 over which the water forming the curtain does not flow in running back to the tank 6. Preferably, the spray from the nozzles 15 forms a curtain over air outlets (not shown) at the bottom of the housing 1.
