Abstract

854,841. Solid tyres. CONTINENTAL GUMMI-WERKE A.G. Jan. 19, 1959 [March 17, 1958], No. 1818/59. Class 144 (2). A detachable solid rubber wheel tyre has its wheel rimengaging inner periphery formed with two conical bearing surfaces 3 which each flare axially outwardly but are of different axial extent, the tyre being detachably mounted on a split wheel 5, 6 having fixed and detachable rim flanges which slope respectively complementarily to the surfaces 3 of the tyre. As shown the tyre has an inner peripheral portion 2 of harder composition than the body 8 of the tyre and reinforced by steel wire bundles 9 which are wound and disposed so that they extend parallel to the surfaces 3. The surfaces 3 preferably have the same radial extent, and the side of the tyre having the lesser axial extent is positioned on the outboard side of the wheel.
