Abstract
842,109. Discharging cigarettes. PEMBROKE, G. F., and MOLINS MACHINE CO. Ltd. Dec. 17, 1957 [Jan. 4, 1957], No. 435/57. Class 130. [Also in Group XXX] Cigarettes C, Fig. 1, from a cigarette-making machine catcher band 14 are swung through 180 degrees so that their tipped ends T align with those of cigarettes on a parallel catcher band (not shown) of the machine. The cigarette swinging device comprises a rotary. disc 1, having an upturned rim 2 with cigarette-receiving serrations, and an endless chain 4 located by curved guides, 5, 6, that 6 being overlaid by a thin stainless steel plate 11 whose ends partly overlap. chain sprockets 7. The inner edge of a cover 12 prevents unwanted outward cigarette movement. the cigarettes C are passed on to the device over a bridge plate 15 by rotary rubber discs 16 and are delivered from the device to a ramp 19 by fluted discs 18. The device and the second catcher band may deliver directly to a bin placed between them, or the second catcher band 32, Fig. 5, may be lower than the device and receive cigarettes therefrom for delivery with its own to a bin 35 which may also receive cigarettes from similar bands 33; 34 of another cigarette-making machine.
