Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the general formula: <FORM:0849879/IV(b)/1> wherein R1 and R2, which may be the same or different, are straight-chain or branched-chain alkyl radicals or aryl radicals and R1 or R2 can also be hydrogen; and the preparation thereof from compounds of the formula: <FORM:0849879/IV(b)/2> by reaction with appropriate organo-metallic compounds such as R2 MgX, where X is a halogen atom, or by reduction of the keto group by, for example, hydrogenation using Raney nickel as catalyst.
