Abstract

848,303. Type printing telegraphy. SIEMENS & HALSKE A. G. Jan. 2l 1959 [Jan. 21, 1958], No. 2267/59. Class 40(3). A signal recorder comprises a number of punches and electromagnetic devices, each device having a resilient armature, or extension thereof, which couples the associated punch to a reciprocating frame to effect a punching action when any of said devices is energized. For a five-unit code there are five punches 7 and a transport perforator 8. A frame 2 is continuously reciprocated and is formed with notches 2b, 2c. Each electro-magnetic device 9 (only one shown) carries an armature 14 and a resilient extension 15 which may be a leaf spring twisted through 90 degrees or may be a spring of round or other crosssection. When a device is not energized the extension passes through the notch 2c, but when energized by a signal element the device moves the extension over to the ledge 2b where the upward movement of the frame clamps the armature between the ledge and the lower end of the associated punch to cause a punching action to take place. As the frame moves downwards after punching the armature is released and is urged to the rest position by a spring 20. The movement of the punches may cause a tape either to be perforated or, by the use of an inked ribbon, to be printed with the code character.
