Abstract

847,134. Fluid pressure brakes. WESTING- HOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO. Ltd., and SIMMONS, A. W., and SHATTOCK, C. F. B. Oct. 16, 1958, [Oct. 17, 1957] No. 32459/57. Class 103 (1). In a driver's brake valve device for vacuum braking apparatus a manually operable handle 19 is rotatable in a casing 12 to impart rotation, through a vertical spindle 14, to a valve (not shown) controlling communication of the train pipe of the associated vacuum braking apparatus with atmosphere and two press button switches 24, 23 are provided in each one of two electrical circuits controlling respectively high rate evacuation of the apparatus and partial or complete reduction of the evacuation of the apparatus. A cam surface 25, provided on the tmderside of plate 16 rotatable with handle 19 is provided to operate in conjunction with follower arm 26 to operate switch 23 for cutting out or reducing the evacuation when the device is set in position corresponding to the application of the brakes. A lug 29 integral with handle 19 is provided to operate switch 24 to increase exhauster speed to provide a rapid release of the brakes by depression of the handle 19 when the handle is in the running position and the device is set for release of the brakes.
