In an improvement in a flexible brake band system described and claimed in the parent Specification in which a primary brake band element 1 anchored at 3 is superimposed upon two or more secondary brake band elements 5, 7 (not shown), arranged side by side and each having a friction lining riveted thereto; the secondary brake bands are restrained against lateral displacement relative to the primary brake band by pin (19) and slot (15) connections mounted in the primary and secondary brake band elements respectively.
