837,307. Boilers combined with fuel gasifying apparatus. KOPPERS G.m.b.H., H. Oct. 26, 1956 [Nov. 16, 1955], No. 32744/56. Class 123(2) [Also in Group XII] In a process in which finely divided fuels in suspension with oxygen and steam are gasified in a chamber 1, the useful gases containing solid gasification residues in suspension are passed through a radiation boiler 5 and then subjected to a final gasification by a strong whirling motion and a single or repeated compression and expansion with simultaneous lowering of temperature before entering a fire tube boiler 21. The gas outlet opening 3 of chamber 1 is formed by a water-cooled double jacket 4. The radiation boiler 5, which consists of a vertical double jacket 6 in which steam of moderate pressure is generated, is connected at its top to a tubular duct 9 which as shown is in two parts 10, 11. The wall of duct 9 is formed as a double jacket 13 for the generation of low pressure steam, and funnel-shaped deflecting elements 16, 17 enter the duct 9 to produce the whirling motion in the gases. Dust is collected at the outlets 18, 19. Before entering the fire tube boiler 21, which generates high pressure .steam, the gases pass a steam superheater 20. The duct 9 is supported at its ends directly on the boilers 5, 21, and has additional support by resting at 28, 29, on beams 25 which have their ends movably supported on the boilers 5, 21, at 26, 27 respectively.
