837,256. Sliding jaw clamps. RENFROE, C. J. June 20, 1958, No. 19758/58. Class 44 A clamp, for attachment to the flanges 10, 12 of a constructional beam A, includes clamping-members 16, 18 each of which comprises side-plates 20, 22 having integral hooks 24, 26 respectively. Each side plate has a stud 42 and is slotted at 44, the stud of each plate being received by the slot of the other so that, on assembly on the beam, the clamping-members 16, 18 are held in engagement. The two members 16, 18 have seating surfaces 30, 32, respectively, for engagement by a wedge 28 which is forced between said seating surfaces and flanges 10, 12 of the beam A to effect locking, the face of the wedge engaging the beam being made concave to form acute edges 34, 36 which bite into the flanges of the beam. The members 16, 18 have apertures 46, 48 adapted to receive a bolt &c. to prevent the wedge becoming loose due to vibration, and also apertures 50, 52 so that loads may be suspended, by chains &c. from an off-centre position relative to the vertical axis of the wedge.
