Abstract
Fertiliser material is prepared by spraying a concentrated aqueous solution or melt of ammonium nitrate, urea or a salt of urea, such as urea nitrate, onto a granular base. The granular base is preferably porous and preferably comprises phosphate and/or superphosphate and/or tripple superphosphate and may contain potassium chloride and ammonium sulphate, or may comprise a substantially inert solid material such as brick, clay, chalk or limestone. The granular base should preferably be of a low moisture content and may advantageously be at an elevated temperature and may be agitated while being sprayed. In the case of ammonium nitrate the concentration of the aqueous solution is preferably at least 60% and desirably greater than 80% by weight. Specification 795,781 is referred to.
