822,823. Spinning yarns; roller arrangements in textile spinning machines; thread guides. CARROLL-PORCZYNSKI, Z. K. Sept. 12, 1957 (Aug. 2, 1956], N‹. 23792/56. Classes 120(2) and 120(3) In the manufacture of core yarn, a tow of natural or artificial e.g. viscose continuous filaments is passed between feed or back rollers of " direct spinning " apparatus for breaking the tow into staple which is thereafter drafted between feed and delivery front rollers and combined with a continuous core or cores inserted or introduced into the staple immediately at the back of the front rollers, whereupon the combined staple and core are twisted together on emerging from the front rollers. The core(s) may be of continuous natural, artificial or synthetic e.g. nylon or polythene, filaments, spun yarn or combinations thereof; it may be preformed and stretched or tensioned and/or treated with fireproofing, rotproofing or antistatic agents prior to combination with the staple. The core(s) may be inserted by a guide(s) or pairs of additional feeding rollers driven at a predetermined slower speed than the front rollers, positioned near the back of the front rollers.
