Abstract
813,813. Air heaters. LLOYD, K. H. Aug. 30, 1956, No. 26541/56. Class 64(1) A heat exchanger for an air heater comprises a duct 19 for combustion products and a surrounding shell 1 forming a jacket 24 for air to be heated, the duct comprising flues 20 extending substantially throughout the length of the jacket which has inwardly extending passages 23 for air. The latter is drawn through mesh-covered openings 12 by a centrifugal fan 6 and flows round a combustion chamber 14 before passing through the passages 23 and jacket 24 to a diffusing chamber 28 provided with louvres 30. Hot gases from the chamber 14, which is fitted with an oil burner 16, flow into the duct 19 and are caused by one or more partitions 39, 40 to pass through the flues 20 before entering a chimney 27a containing a flame failure thermostat 32. Further thermostats 33, 34 control the burner 16 and fan 6, respectively. The chamber 28 may be replaced by trunking.
