Abstract
813,129. Insulation of dynamo-electric machines. BROWN, BOVERI & CIE A.G. May 16, 1956 [May 16, 1955], No. 15276/56. Class 35. [Also in Group XXXVI] High-voltage electrical conductors, such as the windings for electrical machines, are insulated by a lapping of mica secured spotwise to a sheet-like backing material, without employing a binder, so that the resultant lapping is permeable to an impregnating agent, the conductor then being impregnated under vacuum with a solvent-free impregnant. The mica may be stitched to the backing by a few seams, or spotwise glued, or merely laid on to the conductor with the backing. The impregnant may be a polymerizable synthetic resin, an asphalt or a wax and the backing may be paper or glass or synthetic fibre fabric either in sheet or tape form.
