810,197. Tool-holders; milling-cutters. SANDVIKENS JERNVERKS A.B. March 28, 1955 [March 30, 1954], No. 8992/55. Class 83 (3). In a tool-holder or a cutting-tool 13, e.g. a milling-cutter, the circular or polygonal, e.g. square or hexagonal, cutting-insert 12 is held in a carrier 10, 11 by clamping-means 15 acting on the clamping-plate 11 of the carrier, a clamping-means 14 retaining the carrier in the tool &c. and remaining clamped while the means 15 is released to enable the insert 12 to be re-positioned so as to expose a fresh cutting-edge thereof. The plate 11 may be secured to the bar 10 by rivets, conical-pins or screws 22, and is recessed at 9 beneath the clamping-wedge or screw 15. Recesses 26, 27 formed in the bar and plate to accommodate the cutter may be enlarged, as at 16, to clear the cutting-edges of the cutter. A spring 21 may hold the cutter in position when the screw 15 is released.
