Abstract

1,017,309. Tools; shearing. HIGHER SPEED METALS Ltd. June 3, 1964 [March 23, 1963], No. 11593/63. Headings B3B and B3W. A tool-holder comprises a securing pin 9 projecting laterally from a stem 7 urged in a direction to hold a tool 15 against a seating. The stem is urged by a screw 11, Fig. 1 (not shown), or a screw 18, Fig. 6 (not shown). For a pentagonal, square, round or triangular bit 15, Fig. 14 (not shown), a seating member 23 is provided. A chip-breaker 26, Fig. 21, has a flange 29 which may be clamped between the holder 1 and the bit 15, as in Specification 1,017,308. Shims may be inserted behind the bit. In a shearing tool, the blade 33, Figs. 22 and 23 (not shown), is clamped by screws 19 moving stems 7 carrying pins 9 engaging the blade. The pins may act as wedges as indicated at 9A.
