Abstract

819,103. Permanent magnets. MERLE, J. July 1, 1957, No. 20707/57. Class 35. [Also in Groups XIX and XXV] A comparator assembly comprises in combination a magnetic base support 6 having a generally V- or U-shape, and means mounted on one of the arms 13 of the support 6 for frictionally supporting the comparator 1 in any adjusted position on the support. The support 6 contains three cylindrical magnets 8 ... 10, each flush with the underside of the support, and a screw-jack 11, 12 is provided for releasing the support from a base plate. The comparator 1 is fixed to the support by two ball and socket joints 5, 16; 14, 15, the balls 5, 14 being held against a spacer 18 when a coupling 17 is screwed up.
