Abstract

818,141. Rotary pipe joints. ZWICKY Ltd. Oct. 11, 1955 [Oct. 11, 1954], No. 29270/54. Class 99(1). [Also in Groups I and XVII] A rotary pipe joint in an assembly for emptying large tanks (see Group XVII) comprises a fixed dependent pipe section 21 to which is hinged a pipe 12 carrying a float, the dependent pipe section 21 opening into an enlarged central portion of a cylindrical body 8, in which is rotatable one end of an elbow 11 having the pipe 12 at its other end the body 8 being closed at its other end by a plate 9. Self-lubricating bearings 14 and packing rings 13 are included. A stop 19 limits the level to which the free end of the pipe 12 can descend to prevent sludge from being withdrawn from the tank. A projection on the free end of the pipe 12 can also be used as a stop.
